Using the app

Blur, Watermark & Metadata by Veil provides tools to blur, pixelate or cover visible details, choose how supported photo metadata is handled, and add visible custom text. You are responsible for having the right to use each photo and for reviewing the result before sharing it. Follow applicable privacy, copyright and other laws, and respect people shown in your photos.

Automatic detection is a suggestion. It may miss details or include unrelated areas. Blur and pixelation do not guarantee anonymity, confidentiality or compliance with a particular legal or payment-card standard. Inspect the full image; for sensitive details, consider solid Redact with sufficient coverage. Veil creates a new JPEG and leaves the selected original unchanged.

JPEG export may change compression, transparency, HDR and color characteristics compared with the source format. Keep important originals independently.

Metadata and watermarks

Keep metadata is selected for a new photo unless you choose Remove. Keep preserves supported source fields, including location when available. Remove omits supported source location, capture date and time, camera/device and descriptive details, comments and embedded previews. JPEG conversion rebuilds orientation, dimensions and color information; it cannot preserve every source tag. Auxiliary images, original previews, opaque data and unsupported fields may be excluded. A receiving app may add its own dates or identifiers.

If Veil cannot create an output that follows your chosen metadata policy, it reports an error instead of changing the policy or exporting the original.

Watermark text is applied visibly to saved and shared copies. A recipient may crop or alter the mark; it does not prove origin or prevent misuse. Avoid entering sensitive information as watermark text.

Free exports and subscriptions

Two successful Save or Share outputs are included without a Veil account. Editing, import and preview remain available without charge. Failed or cancelled outputs do not count. Each further successful output—including a different destination or another export of the same photo—requires active Veil Pro access.

Veil Pro monthly and yearly subscriptions provide the same entitlement: unlimited protected photo exports. Apple displays the current localized price, billing period and renewal terms before purchase. A three-day introductory offer is shown only when available and Apple confirms eligibility. Introductory-offer eligibility is shared across the subscription group; changing plans does not grant a second trial. After the offer, the subscription automatically renews at the displayed monthly or yearly price unless canceled. To avoid a charge after a free trial, Apple advises canceling at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Manage or cancel a subscription in iPhone Settings under your Apple Account’s Subscriptions. See Apple Support’s subscription cancellation instructions. Restore Purchases is an action inside Veil and checks the Apple Account used to subscribe; a Veil account is not required.
